About Me
Me: Mom
When my first child was born over 8 years ago, I stopped being a full-time museum professional and became a full-time caregiver. I have spent my days since then caring for my two daughters: the Goose and Pie in Pittsburgh, PA. Our family has memberships to several museums and other cultural institutions in town, and those membership cards see regular use!
Me: In the Museum
I am a lifelong museum goer. As a kiddo, I spent many hours at the Capital Children’s Museum, I visited the National Aquarium with some regularity, and I lived close enough to Washington D.C. to take numerous school and family trips to the various Smithsonian Institutions. Growing up, my favorite museums were hands-on, minds-on places. Museums have always been places where I could learn more about my world.
Somehow it took me way too many years to realize that these places I loved so much could also be places to work. Working at a museum wasn’t on the list of jobs I played as a child, but eventually I figured it out! As a museum professional, my focus has always been on visitor experience and education. I have helped design exhibits and programs at museums, science centers, and zoos. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how to create the best possible museum experience for visitors.
